A used electric scooter deserves more than a quick look at its bodywork. Arrange time to inspect the vehicle and review its history. If you cannot assess a fault yourself, make a qualified inspection part of your buying process.
Verify the vehicle and the seller
Ask to see the available purchase and ownership documents. Compare identifying details on the vehicle with the paperwork and confirm the applicable transfer process through the relevant local authority. Do not rely on screenshots alone.
Ask for battery and charging history
Ask when the battery was fitted, whether it has been replaced or repaired, which charger is supplied and whether service records exist. A dashboard charge indicator alone is not a battery-health report. Request any available professional diagnostic findings and understand what was tested.
Inspect visible condition
Look for damaged wiring, loose connectors, unusual repairs and signs of impact. Ask a technician to assess brakes, tyres, suspension and electrical components. Do not open or modify a battery pack yourself.
Check the charger
Confirm that the charger is the model recommended for that battery. UK product-safety guidance stresses following manufacturer instructions and avoiding battery or charger modifications. If the equipment’s identity or condition is uncertain, obtain qualified advice before using it.
Agree on a sensible test ride
With the seller’s agreement and on a suitable permitted route, check controls, braking feel and handling. Record questions that arise and resolve them before agreeing to buy. A short ride does not establish long-term battery performance.
Document the agreement
Record the exact vehicle, included accessories, known faults and agreed terms. Verify the vehicle and seller before payment. EVE Markaz provides advertising and information; it does not collect payments or guarantee a seller’s claims.
